Tuesday, November 27, 8-10pm, free!
Public Assembly, 70 North Sixth Street, Brooklyn, NY 11211
Each month, Spill! brings together storytellers, comedians, sex educators and others to share true tales from their own experiences of queer sex, desire and romance. With stories as diverse as the people telling them, Spill! opens doors to bedrooms, back seats and dungeons to tell what your mama left out about the birds, bees and in-betweens.
Join our sure-shot storytellers as they take aim with tales of miscues:
Hosted by Jefferson (One Life Take Two, Bare!)
Joanne Filan (Comedian)
Michael Hartney (So I Like Superman)
Dixon Mason (Fetish Model)
William Mullin (Closet Cases)
Musical guests Jessica Louise Dye and Jen Kwok
. . . and you! You’ve got stories of taking aim, missing the mark or scoring a bull’s eye. Try your luck by putting your name in the hat for a chance to spill all on the Spill! stage.
And still more! One lucky audience member will win Spill!’s sex-toy raffle, courtesy of Babeland.
Jefferson is the curator and host of Spill! A sex educator and writer, Jefferson keeps a pseudonymous blog, One Life, Take Two, that details his life as a parent and pervert. He is a storyteller frequently seen on stages around the city and elsewhere, including The Moth, where he is a StorySlam winner. He is also host of the monthly series Bare! True Stories of Sex, Desire and Romance.
Jessica Louise Dye fell into music, fashion and photography after being honorably discharged from the Air Force, abandoned by her lover and forced to live out of her car for several months. She went on to organize dozens of concerts and artisan fairs, helping to ignite the music and arts community in Washington, DC. Now based in the nation’s capital and Brooklyn, Jessica performs solo and as half the duo Lightfoot.
Growing up in New Jersey but refusing to die there, Joanne Filan has performed all over the country, including at clubs like The Friars Club, Gotham Comedy Club, Caroline’s, The Laugh Factory and New York Comedy Club. Joanne reaches the masses through her media appearances including Here TV’s Hot Gay Comics, Comedy Time TV, and Comics Favorite Jokes in the New York Post. Joanne continues to educate in her own way by performing at colleges and universities such as Bryn Mawr, Lehigh, St. John’s and Monmouth University.
Michael Hartney writes and performs regularly at the UCBT. He was a writer/actor on Arbuckle and High Treason, and the writer and performer of So I Like Superman: A One-Nerd Show. Michael can be seen on 30 Rock, in the films True to the Heart and BearCity, in the webseries Two Jasperjohns and It Gets Betterish, and in commercials for Hanes, AT&T, Target, Time Warner Cable, CarMax and many more.
Jen Kwok is a writer/performer based in Brooklyn whose unique style of music and comedy has been featured by MTV, Comedy Central and Rolling Stone Magazine. Jen has appeared at such venues as Ars Nova, Joe’s Pub and The Kennedy Center, and her online viral videos (“Date an Asian”, “Zordon is a Racist”) have raked in over three million views.
Dixon Mason is a fetish model, adult actress and nerd. Yes, you can see her tits on the internet (and soon on DVD!) She currently resides in Oakland, CA, where all the good smut gets made. This is her first time (hopefully of many) telling a story!
William Mullin has written and performed with Ed Helms of the Office as well as writing for Jane Lynch. He has performed at The Moth, and produces a storytelling show in Provincetown called Closet Cases.
Dawn J. Fraser, Frank Liotti, Susan Kent, William Mullin, Victoria Scroggins and musical guest Mindy Raf.
