Each month, Spill! brings together storytellers, comedians, sex educators and others to share true tales from their own experiences of queer sex, desire and romance. With stories as diverse as the people telling them, Spill! opens doors to bedrooms, back seats and dungeons to tell what your mama left out about the birds, bees and in-betweens.
Join our sure-shot storytellers as they take aim with tales of miscues:
Hosted by Jefferson (One Life Take Two, Bare!)
Jennifer Luu (Storyteller)
Sampson McCormick (Comic, Activist)
Dixon Mason (Fetish Model)
Musical guest Flo Anito
. . . and you! You’ve got stories of taking aim, missing the mark or scoring a bull’s eye. Try your luck by putting your name in the hat for a chance to spill all on the Spill! stage.
Note: Join us after Spill! as we head over to Busboys and Poets for StoryLeague’s Story Contest DC. Discount tickets available to those who attend Spill! RSVP for details.
Jefferson is the curator and host of Spill! A sex educator and writer, Jefferson keeps a pseudonymous blog, One Life, Take Two, that details his life as a parent and pervert. He is a storyteller frequently seen on stages around the city and elsewhere, including The Moth, where he is a StorySlam winner. He is also host of the monthly series Bare! True Stories of Sex, Desire and Romance.
Classically trained in voice, piano, and ‘cello, Flo Anito began her singer/songwriter career at age sixteen. Flo heads the local chapter of Just Plain Folks, an international music networking organization and has performed in venues across New England and the Mid-Atlantic states, selling out her debut CD. Nominated for two 2012 Wammy Awards—Best Pop/Rock Vocalist and Best Music Video—Flo’s new album “No Dustbunnies” has been a bestseller on CDbaby and Digstation and enjoys frequent radio play.
Jennifer Luu is an acclaimed storyteller, wedding officiant and life coach who grew up on the Virginia side of 14th Street NW, where it’s called Richmond Highway. An avid fan of rock shows, naps, and food, she enjoys all three with her stunning special ladyfriend, Cait, with whom she shares a finicky condominium (key word: mini) in Alexandria, VA. Jennifer was last seen in Better Said Than Done’s “Where the Wild Things Are,” telling a story about the time she thought she had overdosed to death on marijuana.
Sampson McCormick is an award-winning, black, openly gay stand-up comedian, writer and activist. Touring since 2003, he crusades against homophobia, poverty and youth homelessness. Sampson has performed on Broadway, Arena Stage, DAR Constitution Hall, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, The 2012 International AIDS Conference, Harvard and Central Michigan University as well as numerous LGBT Pride festivals and events with entertainers such as Patti LaBelle and RuPaul. He is the author of Taboo Village: A Perspective On Being Gay In Black America and Ebonic Faggotry.
Dixon Mason is a fetish model, adult actress and nerd. Yes, you can see her tits on the internet (and soon on DVD!) She currently resides in Oakland, CA, where all the good smut gets made. This is her first time (hopefully of many) telling a story!
